REVIVE: DEMOLITION CREW AT FORMER LENOX LOUNGE

A tip came in yesterday that a demolition crew was emptying out what remains of Lenox Lounge just below 125th Street on Lenox.  We had assumed that everything had been gutted at this point but the whatever remained was quickly being removed in the morning.  There is basically nothing within the interior now except exposed walls, floors and ceilings so pretty much all of the old history has been lost. Delays on an opening have been ongoing now for well over a year so actions speak louder than words at this point in time for any new business to arrive at his corner of Harlem's iconic boulevard: LINK

  1. So excited for this!

Can't wait to see Lenox Lounge and the bakery on one side of the street, paired with Whole Foods and Harlem Shake on the other. It's really going to brighten that street and make it quite a destination.

  2. It makes sense for the renovation now since it will be closer to the completion date of Whole Foods!

  3. The bigger question is whether the momentum has been lost with the delays. If the new Lenox Lounge opens soon, the history of this address will mean nothing. Dick Parsons beat him to it in offering a sophisticated jazz venue/eatery.
